A seminar on the occasion of Independence Day with the girls of Rokeya Sadan
Rokeya Sadan, a rehabilitation centre running by Bangladesh Mahila parishad, successfully completed 25 years of its journey. Rokeya Sadan is one of the sectors of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad’s multi-dimensional activities. Encouraged by the ideology of Begum Rokeya shakhwat Hossain, accordingly with the apprehension and guidance of some heroic women like Poet Sufia Kamal, Monorama Basu and so on Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has started to work since the last 4 decades with the aim of promoting Bangladeshi women from every level of the society. Hence, Rokeya Sadan was established to support women who are victim of torture and provide them with secured shelter as well. Therefore, Rokeya Sadan is a centre to obtain courage to fight against all the hostilities of the society against women. Furthermore, it is a place to refurbish one’s own dignity, self-belief which makes them able to start a new life with more aspiration and enthusiasm.
25th March 2015 at 4.00 pm on the occasion of Independence Day a sharing meeting was held with the students of Rokeya Sadan at Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Parisad. This program was presided over by president in charge Dr. Fauzia Moslem. Secretary of Rokeya Sadan Nasrin Monsur was also present in the program. Dr. Mukhduma Nargis Ratna, Vice–president of Bangladesh Mahila parisad and Runu Dash, Executive officer of the organization was present in the seminar as a special speaker, they shared their personal experience of participating in the liberation war of 1971.General Secretary of the organization Maleka Banu and General Secretary in charge Rakhi Das Purkayastha respectively delivered their speech on this glorious occasion.
There were also present member of advisory board Nurjahan Bose, joint-general Secretary Adv. Masuda Rehana Begum, finance secretary Dil Afroz Begum, publicity and communication secretary Dil Monoara Monu, education and cultural secretary Bula Osman, training research and library secretary Rina Ahmed, member of central committee Khurshida Imam and a Dipa Islam.
The discussion session of the seminar was followed by a cultural program and showing round a movie based on our liberation war named “Amar Bondhu Rashed” respectively. The cultural program part was immensely enjoyable with the pleasing performance of Rabeya, Jhorna, Ayesha, Fahima, Nabin, Mayabi, Shirin and Sanchita all of them are students of Rokeya Sadan.
