Protesting the alleged rape and murder of two school girls in Madaripur

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) formed a Human Chain on 17-08-2015 at 4.00 pm in front of the National Press Club in the capital. The event was held protesting the alleged rape and murder of two school girls in Madaripur and violence against woman and children.

The program was presided over by the President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad ,Ayesha Khanam and conducted by Senior Lawyer, Adv. Dipti Rani Shikder.

General Secretary, Adv. Masuda Rehana Begum, Organization Secretary Umme Salma Begum, Finance Secretary Dil Afroz Begum, International Secretary Rekha Shaha, Training Reaserch and Library Secretary Reena Ahmed, Publications Secretary Saraban Tahura, Rokeya Sadan Secretary Nasrin Monsur, Education and Cultural affairs Secretary Bula Osman, Adv. Maksuda Akhter, Director, of Legal Advocacy & Lobby, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, President of Dhaka Mohanagar Committee and member of Central Committee Mahatabunnesa, General Secretary, Rehana Yunus  along with Leaders, Organizers and Officers including, nearly hundred(100) peoples were present at the Program.

President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Ayesha Khanam stated that in between January to June over 300 rapes took place of which 100 were gang rapes. She also pointed out that the Lawmakers should have call at least a special session and place a condemnation motion in the house, protesting such incidents.

Joint Secretary, Rakhi Das Pourkayasta said that the female lawmakers must clarify what their respective political parties are doing to stop violence against woman and children. She also praised the public who prevented police from arresting a school Principal who along with students and parents had organized a rally in Madaripur on Sunday protesting the alleged rape and murder.
