Training of Trainers (ToT) on Capacity Building & Awareness Raising of Dhaka & Mymensingh Divisions Organizers

A two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program for organizers from the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions was held on 21–22 November 2025 at the BRAC Learning Centre. The program was organized by the Central Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP), in coordination with the Mymensingh District Branch.


A total of 40 organizers from nine districts of the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions—Tangail, Kishoreganj, Belabo, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Muktagacha and Kolmakanda—participated in the training. Most of the participants had not previously received Training of Trainers and were attending such a program for the first time.


The inaugural session of the two-day training program was held on 21 November 2025. The session was chaired by Monira Begum Anu, President of the Mymensingh District Branch and Member of the Central Committee, and moderated by Fahmida Yasmin, General Secretary of the Mymensingh District Branch. The Chief Guest of the session was Dr. Fatema Haque Shikha, Professor and former Head of the Department of Fisheries Technology at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Other speakers at the inaugural session included Shima Moslem, Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee, and Rina Ahmed, Secretary of the Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP).


Training sessions were conducted on four key subject areas over the two days:
1. Concept of Gender and Women’s Empowerment: Women in Context
2. Women’s Movement in Bengal and Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP)
3. International Context of the Women’s Movement and the CEDAW Convention
4. Women’s Rights under Existing Laws and Practical Approaches to Preventing Violence Against Women
The trainers for the sessions were:
1. Shima Moslem, Joint General Secretary, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
2. Monira Begum Anu, President, Mymensingh District Branch and Member, Central Committee
3. Rina Ahmed, Secretary, Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
4. Advocate Dipti Rani Sikder, Director, Legal Advocacy and Lobbying, Central Legal Aid Sub-Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP)


The moderators of the sessions were:
1. Leela Roy, Vice President, Mymensingh District Branch
2. Ferdous Ara Mahmuda Helen, Vice President, Central Committee
3. Monira Begum Anu, President, Mymensingh District Branch and Member, Central Committee


In addition, the participants carried out a group exercise focusing on organizational development and issues related to violence against women.
Three sessions of the two-day training program were facilitated by Fahmida Yasmin, General Secretary of the Mymensingh District Branch.
The training concluded with the certificate giving ceremony among the participants, followed by closing remarks from Monira Begum Anu, President of the Mymensingh District Branch and Member of the Central Committee.
