Training on Awareness and Skill Development for Organizers from Chattogram and Sylhet Divisions for Women’s Empowerment 2026

Organized by the Central Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, in coordination with the Sylhet District Branch, a two-day training program for divisional organizers from Sylhet and Chattogram Divisions was held on April 24–25, 2026, at Hotel Supreme, Sylhet.


A total of 41 organizers from 7 out of 8 districts in the Rajshahi and Rangpur Divisions, excluding Noakhali; attended the training. The participating districts included: Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Chattogram, Chandpur, and Rangamati. Most of the trainees had not previously received any central training of this kind.


The inaugural session of the two-day training program took place on April 24, 2026. The session was conducted by Rowshan Ara Mukul, General Secretary of the Sylhet District Branch, and presided over by Chhabi Rani Howlader, President of the Sylhet District Branch. The Chief Guest was Professor Dr. Tulshi Kumar Das, Department of Social Work, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet.


Other speakers at the inaugural session included Shima Moslem, Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee, and Rina Ahmed, Secretary of the Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee.
The two-day training program covered four key topics:
1. Gender Concepts and Women’s Empowerment: A Women’s Perspective
2. Women’s Movement in an International Perspective and the CEDAW Convention
3. Women’s Rights under Existing Laws and Practical Approaches to Preventing Violence Against Women: What Organizers Can Do
4. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad’s Perspective on the Current Women’s Movement
The trainers were:
1. Shima Moslem, Joint General Secretary, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
2. Rina Ahmed, Secretary, Training, Research and Library Sub-Committee, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
3. Adv. Dipti Rani Shikder, Director, Legal Advocacy and Lobbying, Central Legal Aid Sub-Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
The moderators present were:
1. Renuka Das, Vice-President, Sylhet District Branch
2. Chhabi Rani Howlader, President, Sylhet District Branch, and Member, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
3. Rina Karmakar, Vice-President, Sylhet District Branch
Additionally, the trainees conducted a group assignment.
The three sessions of the two-day training were managed by:
1. Rowshan Ara Mukul, General Secretary, Sylhet District Branch, and Member, Central Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
2. Mitali De Mitu, Secretary, Training and Library Sub-Committee, Sylhet District Branch
The two-day training program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the trainees and a closing speech by Chhabi Rani Howlader, President of the Sylhet District Branch.
