On April 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM, a human chain event was held in front of the National Press Club by the Social Action Committee, part of the Women’s Human Rights and Development Organization. They called for an end to violence against women, children, and civilians in Gaza and urged the world to speak out against the genocide. Dr. Fauzia Moslem, President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) , presided over the event.
Speakers were Shaheen Anam from Manusher Jonno Foundation, Rasheda K. Choudhury from Campaign for Popular Education, and Rekha Choudhury from Bangladesh Mahila Parishad. Others supporting the cause included Tariq Hossain, Sohana Ahmed, Samapika Halder, Selina Parvin, Mousumi Biswas, and Ruhul Amin. Meherunnesa from the Bangladesh Child Welfare Council also supported the event, along with the Deepto Foundation.

Dr. Fauzia Moslem spoke about how women and children suffer the most in wars like the one in Gaza. She criticized the lack of action from the UN and urged for the genocide to be addressed in an international court, calling for protection of human rights against oppressive forces.

Shaheen Anam was surprised by the global silence, especially from Western countries, despite their promises to uphold human rights. She urged immediate action against the killings in Gaza, where the majority of victims are women and children.

Rasheda K. Choudhury called for neighboring countries and the world to oppose the war in Gaza and speak out against those supporting the aggressors. Rekha Choudhury questioned global inaction in the face of such violence and demanded an end to the war to safeguard humanity. Over a hundred people, including Social Action Committee members, leaders of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, journalists, and officials, joined the human chain. Jana Goswami from Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) led the program
