On Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM, the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad’s Training, Research, and Library Sub-committee inaugurated a ‘Research Methodology’ course at the Anwara Begum Munira Khan Auditorium in their central office. The event was led by Dr. Fauzia Moslem, president of BMP. The general secretary, Maleka Banu, and the joint general secretary and course director, Shima Moslem, also gave speeches. Rina Ahmed, the Training, Research, and Library Secretary, coordinated the event.

Dr. Fauzia Moslem addressed the issue of extreme misogynistic propaganda that hinders women’s rights efforts. She stressed the importance of liberating women from these constraints and highlighted the essential role of research in this mission. The course aims to deepen understanding of women’s issues and equip participants to tackle current challenges in the women’s movement.

Maleka Banu, in her welcome speech, noted that the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has been engaged in diverse initiatives for 50 years. The new research methodology course adds a fresh dimension to their projects. She emphasized the importance of social research in achieving gender equality and encouraged participants to use the course to fulfill their aspirations and contribute to an equitable society.

Shima Moslem highlighted the necessity of accurate data in planning. She stated that before implementing programs or policies, assessing the present situation through research is crucial. Research helps formulate effective organizational programs. She assured participants that, by the end of the course, they will have clear guidance on data collection and report preparation.

The inauguration was attended by central committee members, editorial secretaries, officers, course instructors, and 22 students—including teachers, development workers, government and non-government employees, university students, organizers, researchers, and homemakers—totaling about 60 participants. The course will run from April 17 to May 31, 2025, featuring 19 classes across six modules at the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad.
