On January 2, 2024, at 11:00 am, a tribute was paid to the late President of BMP Ayesha Khanam on her fourth death anniversary at the central office of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad in the Sufia Kamal Auditorium.
Dr. Fauzia Moslem, President of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP), led the program. Maleka Banu, General Secretary of BMP, gave a speech. At the start of the event, everyone took a moment of silence to remember the deceased President. After the silence, leaders and members of the organization in the central and Dhaka metropolitan committees paid their respects by offering flowers to a picture of the late Ayesha Khanam.
General Secretary Maleka Banu expressed her deep respect for the late Ayesha Khanam, who was a dedicated worker and organizer in the women’s movement. Ayesha Khanam was part of a generation in the 1960s that worked towards establishing humanity, peace, and equality, and freeing the country from autocratic rule. She was actively involved in advocating for women’s human rights, implementing different family laws, and promoting women’s political empowerment. Throughout the 54-year history of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Ayesha Khanam played a significant role and her contributions will always be remembered.
In her speech, President Dr. Fauzia Moslem stated that Ayesha Khanam was a prominent figure in the 1969 uprising and the 1971 national movement. She was a warrior at the forefront of all movements. She will always be with us in all our work and thoughts.
At the end of the speech, Jana Goswami, Adv. Dipti Sikdar, Shamima Afzali Shampa, Ashru Bhattacharya, Rokeya Begum, and Randa Prasad Sarkar paid tribute to the late Ayesha Khanam by performing music. Kazi Tamanna, a prominent media personality, gave a memorial speech in Ayesha Khanam’s memory. Kazi Monira Juthi & Dholon Krishna Shil recited poetry.
In the program, the central and Dhaka Metropolitan Committee leaders, secretarial board, and staff of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad were present.
