Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) Organized A Training of Trainers on- “On Prevention and Remedy of Violence Against Women and Girls in Protection of Women’s Human Rights”


On July 22, 2022, at 9:30 am, the Central Legal Aid Sub-Committee, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP), in the light of the theme “Building a collective social movement to prevent violence against women and girls”- In order to protect women’s human rights in the prevention and treatment of violence against women and girls, the trainer training program was arranged in three departments (Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Khulna) with the participation of the leaders of 27 district branches. Dr. Fauzia Moslem, President of the Central Committee, presided over the event. Maleka Banu, General Secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) gave a welcome speech, Organizing secretary of the organization Umme Salma Begum and joint-general secretary Ad. Masuda Rehana Begum also spoke in the program.

A training of trainers on the prevention and treatment of violence against women and girls was organized by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) to preserve women’s human rights.


About 115 people including leaders, editorial staff and members of the organization’s central committee from 27 district branches of 3 divisions were present in the day-long trainer training program. The workshop was facilitated by Dr Naheed Nabi Lena, Member Central Legal Aid Sub-Committee, Ad Fatima Khatun, Sabiqun Nahar, Program Officer (Counselling) and Junior Advocate Sino May Marma, Central Legal Aid Sub-Committee.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) Maleka Banu said that ongoing violence against women and girls must be prevented and discrimination must be resisted. For this purpose, she called for strengthening the organization’s movement program and mentioned that to build a non-sectarian and gender-equal society. She said-
“We have to work unitedly to realize the rights we have as human beings, not based on religion.”
At this time, she called upon everyone to spread the knowledge and experience gained from the trainer training program.

Organizational Secretary Umm Salma Begum called upon all the members of the district branch to follow the constitution of the organization and work regularly.

Ad Masuda Rehana Begum, joint general secretary of the organization, said that all the organizers should be more efficient and active to advance the work of the organization, they should know every subject in depth in the field of work.
In the speech of the President, Dr. Fauzia Moslem said,
“Through our work, we want to build a society where no violence against women will happen, women’s lives will be safe and all their rights will be realized.” She said in the light of the report published by the United Nations that every 3 women are a victim of violence. Although there are various laws to deal with violence against women, there are many obstacles to the implementation of the law, as a result of which many victims of torture do not feel motivated to go to justice. Although women are ready to fight for their rights and aspirations, family, society and state are not supporting them properly. People have to work from the grassroots to change this situation.

In the 1st and 2nd working sessions Rekha Saha, Central Legal Aid Editor, Shima Moslem, Adv. Masuda Rehana Begum Joint-General Secretary, Central Committee, Adv. Deepti Sikder, Director (Acting), Legal Advocacy & Lobby, Jana Goswami, Director, Advocacy & Lobby and Senior Advocate, Adv. Ram Lal Raha made important discussions.
At the end of the session, subject-based party work was held with the participation of the leaders of the district.
