Human Chain Program Held to Protest against the Atrocity Occurred in an Illegal Arbitration on Woman.

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad organized a human chain program on April 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. in front of the National Press Club to protest against the incident of whipping and stoning on a woman in the village of Gazipur Union of Chunarughat Thana, Habiganj in an illegal arbitration.

The human Chain was presided over by the president of the organization, Dr. Fauzia Moslem.
About 60 people including leaders, officials of the organization’s central and Dhaka metropolitan committees were present in the program. The members of Nari Oikya Parishad as well expressed their solidarity in the human chain program.


Dr. Fauzia Moslem, President of the organization, said in her speech, 2023 is Digital Bangladesh era, we become speechless about such medieval period brutality against women in the illegal arbitration in Smart Bangladesh. She also added that many media workers are being arrested under the Digital Security Act but it is not clear why law enforcement agencies have not yet been able to arrest the person who spread this woman’s issue on social media – the CNG driver Abul Kalam. She demanded immediate arrest of the culprit under the Digital Security Act. She also demanded safety of the woman and her family who were subjected to such barbaric violence.

Maleka Banu, General Secretary of the organization, expressed strong anger and condemnation of this incident and said that this incident has faded the contribution of women in the progress of the country. Still anti-women, anti-progressive radical communal groups are active in various ways to keep women backward. She called for strong movement to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.


Shima Moslem, Joint General Secretary of the organization, mentioned, this incident is a matter of shameful regret for the entire nation. The incident is not only a women’s issue but also a reflection of how backward a society is.
Other speakers said that illegal arbitration is a crime. They called for a social movement against like this incident.
