On 26th -28th May 2022, under the initiative of Training, Research and Library Sub-Council of Mahila Parishad Central Committee and in co-ordination with Barisal District Branch, Caritas Barisal held a three-day training program for Barisal Divisional Youth Organizers.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad as a movement-oriented organization has been working for the establishment of human rights of women in this country for a long time. Organizer training programs are being held as a regular program to accelerate the movement by training the organizers on various issues including awareness, skills, rights.
A total of 65 young women organizers from 8 districts of Barisal were present. A total of 7 members have come from each district. In the training, organizers from Barisal, Kaukhali, Bhola, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Barguna and Jhalkathi districts were present. On 26th May between 9:00-9:30 AM all the members of Barisal Division attended Caritas Auditorium and enrolled themselves for training. Members exchange skills among themselves. At this time the central leaders of the organization were also present there. The training was divided into a total of 6 separate sessions. The training program was inaugurated at 10:00 am. In the inaugural session of the training, special guest speech, training of resource persons, selection of expectations, house rule, group work and feedback of participants and distribution of certificates were held. Barisal district branch general secretary Pushpa Chakraborty presided over the event and Barisal district branch president Rabeya Khatun presided over the event. Mr. Jasim Uddin Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal was present as a special guest.
At the beginning of the training, the Organizing Secretary of the Central Committee, Umme Salma Begum greeted everyone and Emphasizing on this training for three days, she urged everyone to focus on the ongoing training. She said that Mahila Parishad has been working for 50 years to establish women’s rights. Young people should come forward in this work. They need to know about women’s movement. Through this training you will know various things continuously. Barisal Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasim Uddin Haider said in the chief guest’s speech, although there is equality in the constitution about taking women forward, it is not reflected in the society, so this women’s movement is necessary. The problems of women are still not understood by the patriarchal society. This patriarchal society does not give women anything, they have to earn it. Women’s rights must be achieved by women. That is why skill is absolutely necessary.
To teach the society, you have to train yourself first. She said, from this training, young women should develop self-strength, self-discipline and self-awareness. We should enrich ourselves with progressive meditation ideas. The modern democratic movement should be coordinated with the tradition to move the country forward. That leadership should be given to today’s young society. All these topics will be discussed in the training. All these discussions should be spread among all. Those trained in Mahila Parishad will soon reach the goal of establishing women’s rights, human rights and equality. I wish the success of today’s training of Mahila Parishad to make non-discrimination society, non-communal society by working with courage. The entire training was divided into three working sessions, The first day was divided into three sessions from 9:00-12:00 AM, 12:00-3:00 PM and 3:00-5:30 PM. Day 2 was completed in morning and afternoon sessions.
The selection of expectations, establishment of the house rule, and creation of the course support team were finished during the morning’s first working session, which was led by coordinator Pratima Sarkar of the Barisal district branch. Shahzadi Shamima Afzali, member of the Central Training, Research and Library Sub-Council was the facilitator there. Nurjahan Begum, vice president of Barisal district branch, was present as moderator in the program.
